Padel Club Member Welcome Pack in Leather: What to Put in It and How to Plan Renewals

The welcome pack is the one gift every new member receives, and the one the club repeats every year. Built in real leather, it is a small set that members keep using. How to choose the pieces, and how to plan the run so next year's pack is a repeat.

A guide by TL San Martín, a tannery of origin in Elda (Alicante, Spain) since 1995, LWG Gold certified under the Leather Manufacturer standard.

A padel club welcome pack in leather is a small set for each new member, usually a racket cover, a ball-tube sleeve and a luggage-style tag, marked with the club crest and the year. All pieces are cut from one hide lot so the colours match. The cover is the anchor piece. Plan the pack as a yearly run: an approved design repeats in about three to four weeks.

Why does a welcome pack work better in leather than in polyester?

A welcome pack is the first physical object a new member receives from the club. In polyester with a printed logo it is forgotten in a week; the print cracks and it looks like every other club's pack. In real leather, with the crest pressed into the hide, it is something the member carries onto court and shows at other clubs, which is the cheapest advertising a club has. The same logic, applied to the whole range, is in custom padel bags for clubs.

What goes in a leather welcome pack?

Keep it to three pieces, so the pack is a set and not a shopping list.

Piece Role in the pack Why it earns its place
Racket coverAnchor pieceLarge branding surface, used every match. Built to the maximum FIP size (45.5 × 26 cm, 38 mm thick), so it fits any member's racket. See the leather padel racket cover guide
Ball-tube sleeveEveryday pieceSeen on the court edge in every game
Luggage-style tagSmall pieceCarries the membership year, so each pack has a visible date

Complements stay in the pack and are not sold as products on their own. The flagship piece, the leather padel bag, belongs to the next tier: team captains, long-standing members or the pro shop.

How do you mark the pack so it can be renewed every year?

Split fixed and variable. The crest and the club colour are fixed, so they can be pressed in once and reused. The membership year, or the member's name, is the variable layer, added by laser on the finished piece or on a small metal plate. Which method suits which element is explained in leather logo: deboss vs metal plate. Choosing a year on the tag and not on the cover means the cover design stays valid from one season to the next.

How do you size the run and the calendar?

Count the new members you expect at the start of the season, not the whole membership, and keep the numbers per piece explicit in the request ("120 covers, 120 sleeves, 120 tags") because the split changes how the hide is cut. What sets the minimum is the colour and the cutting die, not the headcount: with a finish from the library and an existing format there is no new dye lot to pay for. Typical timing for an approved design:

Step Typical time
First sample1–2 weeks
Production of a short run3–4 weeks
Repeat of an approved design3–4 weeks

The leather is tanned and finished in our plant in Elda, so the material is not the bottleneck. Order the first year early enough to approve the sample before the season opens; from the second year on it is a repeat.

Should the pack match the tournament prizes and the shop range?

Yes, and it saves money: pieces cut from the same hide lot match under the club lights, and the club does not carry several colour runs. The prize table for a tournament uses the same logic, tier by tier, in leather padel tournament prizes. The checklist for choosing a supplier that can hold a mixed range is in padel club merchandising supplier.

Planning a member pack for your club?

Tell us the pieces, the numbers per piece, the colour and the date the season opens, and request leather samples to judge finish and marking on the real hide. If your pack is too small for its own run, post it on the open board under Partners & factories.

Frequently asked questions

What should a leather welcome pack contain?

Three pieces are enough: a racket cover as the anchor, a ball-tube sleeve and a tag with the membership year. All are cut from the same hide lot.

Can the pack change every year without redesigning it?

Yes. Keep the crest and colour fixed and move the year to the tag. An approved design repeats in about three to four weeks.

Can we match the club colours?

Yes. We tan and finish the leather ourselves, so the colour is built at source in 160+ finishes or matched to a reference.

Is our club too small for its own run?

It can be. Then post the pack on the open board under Partners & factories and share a lot with another club or a brand.
